Grant Associates produced the masterplan for the regeneration of Colley Park and went on to develop the detail design of a multi-use sports area, two extensive play areas and associated planting and earthworks.

The aim of the masterplan and detailed proposals, which were developed in close consultation with local residents and park users, is to create better links to adjacent residential areas and provide a more accessible resource for the local community.

The regeneration plan of the urban park identifies two areas for the creation of playspaces, using positive aspects of the site. These are Skyspace and Earthspace. Skyspace, located on the highest ridge, is based on the site’s relationship with the sky and wide open views. Earthspace, at the lower end of the site, draws on the topography of big slopes and flat spaces.

Play equipment for a variety of age groups is interspersed with artwork opportunities, signage and a wind turbine.
